Years later, Nicols moved his workshops and stores to the Salamanca neighborhood just when the famous quartz crisis broke out, which strengthened the relationship between both brands.

In 2016, thanks to the great work of Geresa, Seiko Distributor in Spain, Nicols and Seiko began to work again with a common goal, to offer the best Japanese value for money to watch lovers in Madrid.

Since then and up to the present day, thousands of people from Madrid have been able to enjoy the best Japanese watchmaking and the personalized attention service of the Nicols stores in Madrid, and especially on calle goya 55 where the official Seiko Watch Salon is located in Madrid.

History of Seiko Prospex watches for Divers

Introduced in 1965, the Seiko diver's watch and the Seiko Prospex collection has become a world standard due to the great value for money and continuous innovation that it has developed in its more than 65-year history.

It all started with a letter from a Japanese professional diver. The diver sent a letter to Seiko explaining that in his work time was very important but no watch could withstand the stress and strain he experienced while diving at depths greater than 300 m.

Faced with this challenge, Seiko engineers went to work, and after years of research and development, the world's first titanium-cased diver's watch was created: the 600m Professional Diver's Watch.

Japan's first diving watch

The first Seiko Prosoex diver's watch was an automatic watch that was resistant to 150 m, had a very large crown, a rotating bezel with a special gasket, wide hands, and a dial with markers. The launch of this model marked the beginning of Seiko's quest for ever greater reliability and safety.

In 1966 the watch proved its reliability and precision on the 8th Japanese Antarctic Expedition.

In 1968 they introduced a 300m diver's watch with a high-precision 10-beat automatic caliber.

This watch used a high beat caliber to ensure greater precision. It was self-winding, with manual winding capability, and featured stronger, brighter hands and a dial with markers.

In 1975 the world's first titanium-cased diving watch: the professional 600m diving watch

The watch that changed global standards. It featured a double-layered case design, providing greater security against shock and corrosion. The new accordion strap ensured ease of use as it expanded and contracted to accommodate changes in the diver's depth. More than 20 patents have been granted for this world leading timepiece.

In 1978 they introduced the professional 600m diving watch, the world's first saturation diving watch with a quartz movement.

In 1983 it performed perfectly at 1,062 m depth aboard the Japanese manned research submersible "SHINKAI 2000".

In 1985 the 200m quartz diver's watch became a worldwide bestseller.

Seiko's diving watch that achieved worldwide fame and brought Seiko's expertise in this field to a wider audience. Water resistance to depths of 200m allowed recreational divers to use the watch safely.

In 1986 they launched the world's first 1,000m diver's watch with a ceramic outer case.

It was the first watch to use ceramic as the material for the outer layer of the case. The lightweight, corrosion-resistant titanium case with its remarkable one-piece construction enabled this watch to withstand depths of 1,000m.

In 2005 they surprised with the presentation of the world's first 600 m Spring Drive diving watch.

The watch features Seiko's exclusive Spring Drive caliber and uses a single mainspring for its drive and is accurate to within one second per day. Constructed of highly durable, high-intensity titanium and a sapphire crystal, this watch was intended for use in saturation diving to depths of 600m.With half a century of history and the pride of important innovations, Seiko Prospex diver's watches have been chosen many times by adventurers facing challenges in the world's most hostile environments.

History of Seiko Prospex watches for Adventurers

Since 1966, Seiko has been chosen four times to accompany the Japanese Antarctic Expedition on its research missions. More recently, numerous adventurers and explorers have taken Seiko to the top of Mount Everest and all the highest peaks in the world, proving the value of expertise in making watches designed for all extremes.
